CIE 'A' Class Co-Co No. A48R is awaiting departure from Limerick Station with a service to Limerick Junction on 30th July 1970. Built by Metropolitan Vickers in Manchester in 1956, these locomotives were re-engined with EMD power units to replace the original Crossley 2-stroke engines, hence the 'R' suffix. All had been withdrawn by 1995.
