Work is taking place on 21st September 2014 on moving the points at the noth end of Strood Station for the extension of the Maidstone West loop and the London bound platforms to take 12 coaches. The old location of the points was beside the yellow Skeltbray rail/road excavator. A new gantry, with two banner signals, has been erected at the end of platforms 2 and 3. A new gantry, with two new signals, can be seen behind the 15m.p.h. speed limit sign waiting to be erected at what will be the end of the new platform extension.
