Class 87 No. 87035 'Robert Burns' is stabled in Mossend Yard near Motherwell on Saturday 3rd June 1978. Built by BREL Crewe Works during October 1974 it would remain allocated to just one depot, Willesden EMD, for its 31 year career on BR metals. The Class 87s were introduced just as the WCML electrification project to Scotland was completed and the class soon dominated passenger workings between Lomdon and Glasgow. No. 87035 was named 'Robert Burns' on 11th April 1978, a name she would carry until the 30th June 2004. Withdrawn from Willesden during January 2005 No. 87035 passed into preservation and currently is located at The Railway Age Crewe, alongside the WCML.
