Photographed diverging onto the North Staffs route towards Uttoxeter and Crewe at North Stafford Junction, Derbyshire, on a sunny afternoon of Sunday 30th June 2013 is train 5Z52, the 14:00 Derby to Carnforth Steamtown empty coaching stock headed by West Coast Railways Class 57/6 No. 57601 and Class 47/7 No. 47760, which on this occasion were both leading the twelve coach formation rather than positioned in top and tail mode that is mostly used nowadays on this type of working. With the exception of the leading vehicle the remainder of the carriages consisted of the umber and cream-liveried Statesman Rail stock that had been provided for the Cornish Riviera Statesman excursion from Derby to Penzance on the previous day.
