One of the four trains each hour that work up the Rhymney Valley terminates at Ystrad Mynach, from where it returns south working 'wrong-line' for a few hundred yards before rejoining the 'up-line.' On 14th October 2011 we see an example of this with Arriva Trains Wales Class 150/2 numbered No. 150278 departing from Ystrad Mynach at 10.28 with a service to Penarth.
