On 11th August 1963 the Midlands Group of the Omnibus Society arranged a tour of bus operators in Mid-Wales. Included in the tour was a special charter train on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway which had partially opened in April of that year. The Omnibus Society Charter was unusual in that it traversed the full length of the line from the old W & L Station in Welshpool to Llanfair Caereinion. Here we see No. 2, The Countess, being prepared at the Welshpool terminus adjacent to the cattle market.
