It was probably a 1 in 100 chance that 2 steam hauled specials would approach Colton Junction travelling in the same direction at the same time. This happened on 12th December 2009. As ex-GW Castle 4-6-0 No. 5043 'Earl of Mount Edgcumbe' passes Colton South Junction with 'The White Rose' charter from Tyseley to York via Pontefract, class A4 no. 60007 was approaching on the ECML and was given preference into York.
