Double-deck "Balloon" tram No. 717 is seen here pausing at the Pleasure beach with a service from Starr gate to Cleveleys on 1st November 2008. Wearing the "streamlined" green and cream livery that was carried when it was new in 1934, this tram re-entered service in 2008 following a major overhaul by Blackpool Transport to as near original condition as possible. In recognition of a bequest by Phillip R Thorpe for the tram to be restored, the tram now carries his name below the destination indicators.
